A levél írója Szelke Árpád újonc tengerész akadémikus kadét, később U-16 fregatthadnagya. 1916. október 17-én a süllyedő U-16 tengeralattjáró kapitánya őt utasította a titkos iratok és a hajókönyv megsemmisítésére / S.M. Hochseetorpedoboot Wal. K.u.K. Kriegsmarine. Phot. A. Beer / Wal, Austro-Hungarian Navy Deep-sea torpedo boat (later TB54T). The letter writer is the Austro-Hungarian Navy freshman cadet (Árpád Szelke), later the Lieutenant commander of U-16 submarine. WWI 1916 October 17, the Captain of the sinking U-16 submarine instructed him to destroy the secret documents and the ship's book (EK)
