Nagyon fontos korai orvosi szakfolyóirat volt a 19. század elején.
Hufeland a korszak egyik legismertebb orvosa volt, a Berlin egyetem professzora, és több orvosi reformban is szerepet játszott.
A folyóirat 1795 körül indult, több mint 50 kötet jelent meg, a kor legfontosabb orvosi kutatásait és klinikai eseteit közölte.
