Az első ,,fényképeket" még dagerrotípiának nevezték (1839 és cca 1850 között), az eljárást szabadalmaztató Louis Daguerre után; a tételben szereplő három mai nagyítás a dagerrotípiák jellemzőit mutatják be: ezüstözött rézlemezre készült, egy példányban, amely egyidőben volt negatív és pozitív kép, attól függően, hogy milyen volt a kép felületén a fénysugarak beesésének és visszatükrözésének a szöge, 15x10 cm
