1849 dec. 20. Horváth Mihály (1809-1878), a Szemere-kormány vallás- és közoktatásügyi minisztere, történész autográf levele Marie-Louis-Pierre Félix Esquirou de Parieu (1815-1893) francia kultuszminiszternek melyben kutatási engedélyt kér francia könyvtárakba, megemlítve, hogy menekültként az osztrák követ segítségére nem számíthat. Horváth MIhály, a magyar történetírás fontos alakjaként a szabadságharc leverése utáni száműzetésében feldolgozta a külföldi levéltárakban található magyar okleveleket és kiadta azokat. Munkáját láthatólag azonnal elkezdte a szabadságharc leverése után.
